Attorney Alex Salzillo Interviewed by WSAV About Vaping Crisis

Attorney Alex Salzillo, a partner of Jamie Casino Injury Attorneys, was interviewed by WSAV News 3 about the vaping crisis in the state of Georgia.

In the interview, Attorney Salzillo focused on the deceptive marketing tactics of e-cigarette companies like JUUL. Specifically, he mentioned the brand’s attempts to present vaping as a safer alternative to cigarettes and their claims that they market only to adults. The true dangers of vaping have been revealed in recent months, and the long-term effects of the habit are yet to be discovered. JUUL’s advertisements, in particular, use images that are targeted to young smokers. Attorney Salzillo stated, “The reality of their marketing campaigns is starkly different from what they’re telling us what their business model is.”

The youth-focused advertising strategy of JUUL has been a focus of criticism since the company took over the e-cigarette market. The health hazards caused by vaping have surged in the past year, and the number of vape-related hospitalizations has reached crisis-level figures. Lawmakers have fought to regulate e-cigarettes in response to the wave of injuries, and local and state governments (for example, in New York and California) are pursuing legal action to account for the public health impact of vaping.

Attorney Salzillo discussed some of the larger scale vaping litigation, as well as individual lawsuits that have arisen nationwide. He said, “he doesn’t think it would be out of the question for Georgia municipalities, counties and even school districts to take individual action,” according to the WSAV News 3 article. He advised people who are interested in pursuing their own claim to consult with a lawyer and preserve all evidence of their injuries, including saving the vaping devices, cartridges, and receipts of purchase.

The legal team of Jamie Casino Injury Attorneys represents people who have been injured or fallen ill due to e-cigarette use. If you have a case against JUUL or another vape company, you may be entitled to compensation.
